RADA Attenborough Campaign

The campaign will transform RADA’s Chenies Street campus, linking world-leading, practice-led training and professional artistic endeavour. The refurbished buildings will include RADA’s first-ever on-site accommodation, an enhanced library and archive, and a new 250-theatre.

It was RADA’s great privilege to share over 70 years with Lord Attenborough. Student, graduate, Council Member, Chairman and President, he encouraged and supported RADA until his death in 2014, inspiring this campaign. We are now working to regenerate the venue, combining restoration of listed features with the best of modern design.

Taking down barriers to training:
RADA first on-site accommodation

The campaign supports the first-ever on-site accommodation for RADA students. With up to 54 rooms, RADA will be able to greatly enhance the support offered to students through subsidised living accommodation as part of enhanced scholarship awards.

Learning:
resources for the future

The campaign will enable a significant upgrade in our library and archive facilities. Alongside the digitisation of our current collection, the regeneration of archive facilities will enable RADA to provide the right reference and resource material to support practice-led training.

A new theatre:
where world-class training meets a world-class industry

This new Richard Attenborough Theatre will be a flexible, inspiring space for theatre makers. It will be practical, with technical facilities and back of house to enable innovative and professional theatre-making. Seating 250, it will achieve the acoustic and technical excellence that theatre professionals expect without sacrificing the personality of an intimate space, or the excitement of a theatre where new work is experienced. Our new theatre will be a commercially viable receiving house for regional and touring companies to showcase their studio work in London.

What we need to raise

Our ambition is to raise £20 million over the next three years. The success of this multi-year campaign will start the next chapter of our world-renowned Academy. Our regenerated facilities will enable us to safeguard our excellence in training and keep pace with needs of future generations.
